Noise pollution is earning importance and has been associated with many adverse health impacts, including effects on cognitive function, sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease. In some cities, the impacts of noise on health can be as serious as air pollution. The main sources of noise in cities are traffic (vehicles, trains and planes).

Urban design is one of the main keys to reduce the excess noise, but a decrease in traffic could have a significant effect.
