Science2Society workshop

Improving technology transfer in Europe

CIT and UPC have coorganized, on June 8, the Workshop 'Improving the transfer of technology in Europe' within the framework of Science2Society, a project aimed at improving the efficiency of the European innovation system by developing good practices on the transfer of technology.

Ricard Munné, Project Manager of Atos Research & Innovation, leading the Big Research Data Transfer work package, presented his conclusions about his experience with the project GCAT|Genomes For Life.

"In order to fully benefit of open research data, there is need to develop further collaborative models that attract potential users for big data. Based on the literature review, such models could include the development of a virtual ecosystems and the use of a boundary organisation. Furthermore, the GCAT case provides lessons learnt on how to develop a sustainable business case for big data sharing incl. compelling value proposition for users (...) and how to manage key resources and processes. The key for sustainable business model is to focus on developing valuable proposition for both data owners and users that benefit both parties".
