GCAT was studied as case use, and conclusions were included in the final study report.

As main conclusion, they report that "Big data can provide immense economic, scientific and social value. New value and information can be derived from big data by integrating existing data sets", and specifically they conclude "The GCAT case provides lessons learnt on how to develop a sustainable business case for big data sharing including compelling value proposition for users, profit formula and how to manage key resources and processes. The key for sustainable business model is to focus on developing valuable proposition for both data owners and users that benefit both parties".
